One of the greatest concerns companies have when disposing of their old computer equipment is the removal of the personal and proprietary data, as well as licensed software contained on them. Disposing of computer storage devices, (hard drives, tapes, cd's, etc) without ensuring proper data removal presents huge business risks. Destruction of drives, tapes, and other magnetic media is by far the safest means of disposal and the only method that guarantees that your data cannot be recovered.

ACL offers various levels of secure data removal, up to and including Total Physical Destruction. Total device destruction is required for compliance with:

  • HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
  • Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA)
  • Identity Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act

Destruction Services

Destruction of drives, tapes, and other magnetic media is by far the safest means of disposal and the only method that guarantees that your data cannot be recovered.

At ACL, we make this process very simple for you. We offer a  complete hard drive/media  destruction service. Our 20 ton crusher will completely destroy  the hard drive case and platter rendering the data absolutely  unrecoverable.

Destruction Process

Customer's computers are picked up and transported to our facility. Upon arrival, we take the following steps to secure our customers data and begin the destruction process.

  • Inventory all equipment received, recording serial numbers.
  • Remove and destroy all asset and identification labeling.
  • Remove all drives to be destroyed.
  • If requested, capture and record serial numbers of all drives using bar code scan.
  • Complete the destruction process by crushing all drives, and creating a Certificate of Destruction.

On-Site Destruction

ACL is excited to offer On-Site/Mobile hard drive destruction services. We are now able to deploy a van, equipped with a drive crusher directly to our customer's location. Inventory, if required, can be completed via bar code scan. The destruction process is then completed and fully viewed by customer.

Digital Video (upon request)

In order to insure full compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act), some companies now  require video proof of the hard drive destruction process. At ACL, we offer a digital video recording of the entire destruction.  Depending on file size, a digital copy is provided either on flash drive or DVD.

Certificate of Destruction

Certificates of Destruction are issued to each customer, providing the assurance that all personal and proprietary data has been destroyed, and that all destruction and recycling has been accomplished in full compliance with EPD/EPA guidelines and requirements. Each certificate includes: date service was performed, name of ACL representative prforming the service, location service was performed and serial number of each drive destroyed.
